Instructional and Support Information (How to place, adjust, and what to expect)
Please read all information below before use.
- Like anything new, you must work with these units and gradually adjust to the feel in your ear. With the units off, select the snap on eartip dome that provides the most comfortable fit. Small letter on side of unit: Red (R) is for right, Green (L), for left ear. Gently place the unit into your ear canal pointing it to the back of your head, tilting slightly upward with the pull wire at the bottom. Holding onto your earlobe with your thumb and middle finger, firmly push the unit all the way and fully into your ear canal with your index finger. Upon initial placement, there is always a blocked, full feeling, which will take time to get used to and will eventually become unnoticed. (Like wearing glasses). For some, this may take days, for others, weeks. To remove, simply grab and pull on the ball end of the clear removal "pull wire". Because the ear canal membranes are tender, and the anatomy of individual ear canals differ, some initial soreness is expected. If the soreness becomes pain you should skip some wear time and allow some healing time. Gradually increase your wear time each day , or every other day, until this soreness disappears. And believe me, it will!
- It is absolutely normal for the units to "whistle" when placing them and removing them from your ears. You should also adjust sound volume to a maximum level that is comfortable. Using the adjusting tool, start with the volume turned either all the way down or up. Then, very gradually, and in very tiny increments, use the tool to adjust the unit until you do not hear "whistling" when fully seated in your ears or when opening your jaw wide and moving it side to side, or when eating. (Eating causes the temporomandibular (lower jaw) joints to press on both car canals which in turn may cause whistling). Whistling will also occur whenever anything gets very close to your ear. If voice or sounds appear "harsh", turn the volume down until it is comfortable. Your brain will also take time to work with the new and amplified sounds and ultimately will establish better hearing and learn to ignore, or filter out, most noise. Background noise is a challenge for all devices. This is one area where the technology in the more expensive units excel. As always, you get what you pay for. (Ex. Eargo Neo, costs thousands of dollars) (Car Example: Kia Reo vs Mercedes S Class)
